About Sunways

Sunways makes inverters for homes and small businesses. The Sunways models we offer are on-grid (grid-tied) inverters in 6, 8 and 10 kW sizes.

A grid-tied inverter feeds your solar power into your building and works together with the grid. It does not include battery backup, and like every grid-tied inverter it shuts down during a power outage for safety. If you want power during outages, we would pair you with a hybrid inverter and a battery instead.

What a inverter does

Panels make direct current (DC) power, but your appliances run on alternating current (AC). The inverter does that conversion, and watches the system so it runs safely and efficiently.

A grid-tied (string) inverter works with the grid. A hybrid inverter adds a battery: it charges the battery from the panels, uses that stored power when the sun is down, and can keep key circuits running during an outage. An off-grid inverter runs a system that has no grid connection at all.

Whether you want battery backup now, or want to be able to add it later
Single-phase or three-phase supply at your property
The size of your loads, and whether the inverter can run them during an outage
That the inverter and battery are compatible, which we confirm from the manufacturer's documents
Monitoring, so you can see what your system produces
